PROTECT PATIENTS AND HEALTHCARE WORKERS
Water: Source and Vector of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs)
Infection risk in operating rooms and scrub rooms can be reduced by using AquaMedix inline and CleanSpray® POU filters. In all critical care units of hospitals and outpatient surgery centers, particularly operating room scrub rooms, keeping water free of potentially pathogenic bacteria is of utmost importance. These potential waterborne pathogens include the bacteria Legionella, Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, Acinetobacter and Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM.)

Protect Patients and Healthcare Workers: Use InLine and POU Filters
A proven tool to protecting potable water supplies is the use of inline filters and Point-of-Use (POU) Filters in operating rooms and surgery “scrub rooms.” According to a March 2018 paper published in Infection Control Today, authored by John H. Hanlin, PhD, and Eric R. Myers, MS: “Multiple studies have shown the benefit of point-of-use water filters in high-risk patient areas. These filters have a porosity of 0.2 um or less and can be attached to showers or faucets in high-risk patient-care areas.” https://www.infectioncontroltoday.com/environmental-hygiene/healthcare-plumbing-systems-are-sources-and-vectors-infection-hais

Products to Protect Water
Water entering hospitals is not sterile. Hospital plumbing systems, by design, result in the growth of biofilms, an ideal growth environment for bacteria including Legionella, Pseudomonas and Mycobacterium. All of these bacteria can cause death, particularly in compromised patients.
Nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections caused by waterborne bacteria may reach patients through several modes of transmission. Bacteria can easily colonize in hospital plumbing and thrive in biofilm commonly found in u-joints and areas of stagnant water. Biofilms provide an ideal growth environment for bacteria including Legionella, Pseudomonas and Mycobacteria, all of which can cause death in compromised patients.
Infection risk can be reduced through development and implementation of a water management program, including inline and POU filters. https://aquamedix.net/products/
