DANGERS OF STAGNANT WATER
Schools, houses of worship, hotels, health clubs, dental offices, beauty salons and many other types of businesses significantly reduced operations or closed outright in late March in efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. Shutdowns of facilities has led to stagnant water remaining in building plumbing systems. Stagnant water is an ideal growth environment for waterborne pathogens including Legionella, the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ Disease. Some symptoms of Covid-19 and Legionnaires’ Disease resemble those of Pneumonia. If any of these diseases are misdiagnosed, complications may arise during treatment.
